Reunion Meeting 2006

Reunion Meeting 2006

By

James Bredin

Memory overload at the reunion meeting,
Lots of talking, drinking, lying, boasting and eating,
Old names, places, faces, incidents I could hardly recall,
Even those who once had high rank shouting having a ball.

They put the names of those who died up on a screen,
I knew every last one of them, all of the fourteen,
From way back, thirty, forty, fifty years ago,
Still hundreds of faces at the meeting, I didn’t know.

Sat with Arrowsmith, Charlie Case, Kevin McGrail and others,
We turned back the clock and we were once again brothers,
We were young, making decisions pretending we were smart,
That was just about the time one of them let an awful fart.

Doug Priest, Howie Akins, Eddie Lawrence and Ron King,
Working like dogs organizing and flying on one wing,
Appreciate the efforts and a job well done, guys,
Pat McCullough’s history speech was a nice surprise.
