War Crimes and the United Nations

War Crimes and the United Nations

By

James Bredin

UN peace-keeping missions don’t seem to mean much any more,
Sitting targets in a war and left dead in blood and gore,
So these days peace keeping only shows the UN impotence,
As they try to impress us with death and their importance.

Pretentiously pushing peace keepers here and there,
Plus Kyoto Accord and their global taxes everywhere,
Hope you live in a place where you don’t need their assistance,
Try anything instead, even peaceful coexistence.

As they pompously pronounce constant consultations,
So they’re not going the way of the League of Nations,
Though their oil-for-food Saddam scandal was rotten,
The papers were shredded and now it’s all forgotten.

Their Human Rights Commission has of course been changed,
So everything’s okay they say and human rights rearranged,
And Lebanon war crimes people going to jail in The Hague,
Like Milosevic where UN judges may be a little vague.
