Political Appointments

Political Appointments

By

James Bredin

Soft-on-crime appointees can’t see the phrases on the wall,
Allowed prisoners to vote with lots of free phone calls,
They never met a dangerous criminal they didn’t like,
Tell homeless panhandlers with AIDS to do what they like.

And they love all the terrorist refugees they can find,
Seldom deport them which has left us in a bind,
And those who carry guns sometimes get a slap on the wrist,
Some system as they stand and salute with a clinched fist.

You may be the victim of these goody-two-shoe ways,
Appointees never admit this till the end of their days,
Same soft headed types seem to have a hidden agenda,
Leave you buried in the soup of pompous propaganda.

Send someone to Africa for more refugees,
More unwed mothers with kids who are sick please,
And send our tax dollars to dictators over there,
To build up their Swiss bank account which they never declare.

And then you might ask if we are mentally ill?
Toronto based journalists who should take a pill,
Advise public sector appointees about money,
If this wasn’t so serious, it could be funny.
