Change the Constitution

Change the Constitution

By

James Bredin

In Ontario we have politicians that lie,
And lie about the lies and refuse to say good bye,
Who tax and spend like mad men and cannot be recalled,
Even at this very suggestion they are all appalled.

So we need to change the constitution and soon,
Not in five years time on some summer’s afternoon,
By next week or the week after that, without a doubt,
To show them that in democracy, we have the clout.

Because they have their secret hidden agendas,
We need referenda to get them off their verandas,
We need recall in order to tell them where to go,
Which with enough signatures they should get to know.

That they cannot stay at Queen’s Park for their whole life,
We should not be viewed like a compliant obedient wife,
We should not have to wait for a distant election date,
Democracy is now – not a far away debate.
